The 2nd chorus goes:
Now I'm four, five seconds from wilin'
And we got three more days 'til Friday
I'm just tryna make it back home by Monday mornin'
I swear I wish somebody would try me
Ooh, that's all I want
Congratulations to Rihanna on becoming a billionaire, Kanye too.
The other day my heart and I were talking about life, mentality, drive, friendships, and family. I told her I don’t understand not living like tomorrow isn’t a given, and even while it’s a constant mindset, I still forget so often that I need reminders from the outside world.
But when I’m not ahead of those reminders, it hurts me. It catches me blindsided if I’m distracted by the day-to-day, or week-to-week focus, instead of the life-to-life focus.
And to be honest with you, it’s exhausting to live in my real world instead of the distraction of realities that aren’t based. Consuming other realities instead of continuing to produce them.
At 37, Mustefa, why do you have that mindset, focusing on the end of your life? How much time do I have left to provide a future to my futures? We’ve all lost someone. Or we will. Or we will be that someone.
It makes me worry to not see the future. I usually can, it’s very clear. But, I think I can see the long-term future a lot better if I look differently. We usually see the future and think of it from our perspective.. “in 5 years I’ll…”.
I do that.
Maybe I should instead think “in 5 years this is what will be for who is there for it”, and remind myself always to shift my focus from an interaction based life, to a charity, God based life; and God is great.
Time is finite. Trust me. Trust YOU. Take time. Make space. Leave a better future.
“When you grow up, you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is to live your life inside your world, try to not bash up into the walls too much, try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money… but that’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact, and that is everything around you that you call life is made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. And the minute you understand that you can poke life and actually if you push in something will pop out the other side, you can change it, you can mold it, that’s maybe the most important thing: is to shake off this erroneuous notion that life is there and you’re just gonna live in it, versus embrace it, change it, improve it, make your mark upon it… however you learn that, once you learn it, you’ll never be the same again.”
